Frequently asked Questions???
How long are the sessions?: Most classes run for 12 weeks, an hour a week. Classes that are
scheduled on Monday run for 10 weeks because many National Holidays are scheduled on
Mondays. These classes are priced accordingly. The Scene Study class is given 1 hour and1/2,
giving the students enough time to warm-up with theatre games and then study selected scenes.
There are many times that the teacher may ask to meet with certain students or the entire class
outside of regularly scheduled class time at no cost to you.
A Two Semester Commitment may apply for some performance classes

special event insurance, etc...Your tuition covers these things. You are not charged extra.

Playhouse may also promote certain classes with extra savings.
Tuition rates may increase by $5.00 each year.
Do you make payment plans available? Absolutely. Many children register for more then one
class and you may have more then one child taking classes. Tuition can be difficult to pay in one
payment. Payments plans are available by speaking to our Office Manager who is available on
Saturdays. Please let us know when you register that you would like to be considered for one of
our payment plans. Starting in 2008 a fee of $10.00 will be added to each payment.
What does my $25.00 membership fee cover? Your membership fee goes right back to your
child. There are times throughout the year that we have parties with a DJ, sleep overs, family
night, etc. Most of these events are FREE. You may be asked to bring in food to share or give a
little time to help prepare, some parties may require a small entrance fee but the bulk of these
events are covered through the membership fee. Plus Head shots are used to showcase our
students when we are performing, these head shots are taken at our Playhouse and e-mailed to
you. Your membership fee covers most of the cost along with your tuition.
2007 Membership: $25.00
Do you give make-up classes?: We give one make-up class each semester. Either at the end
of the session or with your teachers permission you may join another class. You will see that we
give many extra hours to your child, either through extra rehearsal times or by inviting you to
attend our special performances and rehearsals. In 2006 and 2007 we performed at Applefest,
in Harlem for Martin Luther Kings Jr's Birthday and at The Sugar Loaf Holiday Festival. We also
perform at other events for charity etc...every child is given the opportunity to be apart these
special classes for FREE.
What if my child attends and does not participate? Most kids jump right on in. Our Teachers
take the time to make every child feel safe and comfortable. They find special qualities and
focus on each child's individuality. But every Child is different. In most cases all they need is a
little time to feel comfortable with the exercises, their classmates and teacher. It's amazing to see
a child watch for a few weeks and suddenly participate knowing what to do. Observing is a
crucial part of Acting and performing.
What if my child does not want perform in the class demonstrations or recitals? Most kids
are excited to show off all their hard work mostly because during class time they are
encouraged, praised and taught with love. Yet performing in front of an audience of other Mom's
and Dad's can be overwhelming. There will never be a time that your child is forced to perform.
We pride ourselves in making their training fun and would never FORCE a child do anything
they feel uncomfortable with. Even during performance we stress fun. There is never any
pressure and we never expect perfection. We want them to do their personal best and only
when they are ready.
Is The Acting Out Playhouse Competitive? Our Philosophy is that the Performing Arts should
be fun before anything else. From age 2- 13 we stress training and comfort on stage. We find
each child's strength. Every Child is given the opportunity to sing solo's, act out scenes and
shine! There may be times when a certain voice or look is needed for a part or song and your
child's teacher will determine which child performs these roles. Each class is told over and over
again that performing on stage is a group effort. We learn to trust each other and depend on
each other. One Star can not light up the sky. So, There is no one Star. We are all Stars.
Our summer program requires an audition. Auditioning and getting a role or not are part of
performing. These auditions are non-threating yet are set up to teach the child what is expected
to "get a role".
